Pediatric Feeding Therapy Services

Feeding therapists are occupational therapists or speech and language pathologists that have completed further extensive training in feeding. We serve children that have difficulties in feeding from birth until 18 years of age.  We understand feeding can be very frustrating and challenging. We work with your child and your family to improve their skills and confidence with feeding to make mealtime fun!  Offered in both Richmond and Shelby Township.

 

Feeding therapy can assist children who have:

  • Oral motor deficits
  • Difficulty breast-feeding and/or bottle-feeding
  • Difficulty transitioning from breast-feeding to bottle-feeding
  • Difficulty transitioning to baby foods and/or solid foods
  • Difficulty chewing and/or swallowing foods safely
  • Gags and/or spits out foods frequently
  • Pocket or stuffs foods in their mouth
  • Only eat several foods
  • Difficulty trying new foods and including more foods into their diet
  • Is averse to certain food textures and/or flavors
